SHERMAN, Texas -- A historic building in Sherman will soon have a new purpose.
The elegant two-story, five-bedroom home at 506 North Grand Avenue was built in 1900 by a city official.
Developers got final permission from the City Council Monday night to turn it into a bed and breakfast hotel.
Managing partner Chandler Wible said the new B&B will feature four uniquely-styled bedrooms with king size beds, promising that this will be the nicest tourist stop in Sherman.
"We're really excited to bring something historic that is also palatable to people... something you can touch, feel, taste, experience," Wible said. "You know, it's a grand old street; it's a grand old house; and that's why we're calling it the Grand House Bed and Breakfast."
When they do open for business, Wible said they'll reveal more secrets about the history of this landmark near Austin College.
The project was approved unanimously last month by the Planning and Zoning Board.
With a green light from the City Council, the Grand House will start taking reservations when it opens, which is hoped to be within the next few months.
